EDINBURGH, Ind. -- Police apprehended a man wanted in connection with three robberies early Tuesday morning after a chase that went through parts of two counties.

Police said Aaron Fromer, 39, of Bargersville, robbed the Hampton Inn, at exit 76, off Interstate 65 and U.S. 31 and then held up a Thornton's convenience store next to the hotel, 6News' Ben Morriston reported.

In the Hampton Inn robbery, police said Fromer told the clerk to come with him, or else.

"When the suspect was walking out of the business, the attendant was struck physically by the suspect. He yelled, then the suspect fled," said Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett.

Investigators think Fromer also committed a third robbery at a Speedway station at the same interchange at about 2:30 a.m.

Employees at the Speedway told police that the robber took off in a black Jeep Cherokee toward I-65.

Police started looking for the Cherokee, which was found soon after in southern Johnson County.

Bartholomew County and Johnson County sheriff's deputies gave chase as Fromer fled at high speed, investigators said.

Investigators said Fromer drove recklessly on I-65 before taking exit 99 in Greenwood.

Police were able to get Fromer to stop at Rocklane and Franklin roads by blocking him between sheriff's cars.

Investigators said they used a Taser gun to restrain Fromer and then unleashed a police dog that bit the man.

Police took Fromer back to the scene of the robberies, where witnesses identified him.

Police said Fromer demanded money from the clerk at the Hampton Inn and hit the clerk in the head before leaving.

Investigators said the clerk at the Thornton's was also struck and that Fromer told the clerk, "This is what you do when you have a kid with cancer," and offered the man $20 to keep his mouth shut.

Police said Fromer also tried to give a witness a $20 bill during the Speedway robbery and told the man, "You didn't see anything." Investigators said the witness refused to take the money and got a description of the vehicle Fromer was driving.

Fromer faces three counts of robbery and one county of criminal confinement. He may also face additional charges in connection with the chase.

Police said they think Fromer may have been involved in other robberies along the I-65 corridor from Indianapolis to Columbus.
