Kevin Gregory

RTV6 Chief Meteorologist

The name Gregory is synonymous with weather in Indianapolis. Kevin Gregory's father, Bob, has worked for three decades at WTHR. Gregory admits that he learned a lot growing up by going to work with his father and observing his easy-going style and commitment to the community.

When Gregory is not forecasting the weather for RTV6, he is often in the community teaching the next generation about the weather. He has visited hundreds of elementary schools over the last 18 years and now hosts Kevin’s Weather Camp each July. Nearly 2000 children have attended the camp since it began and each December he leads the RTV6 Toy Drive to help families in need during the holiday season.

Gregory joined RTV6 in August 1989. He also worked at WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois and at WLFI-TV in Lafayette, Indiana.

Gregory is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Purdue University, where he earned a degree in Telecommunications. He also is a graduate of the Mississippi State Broadcast Meteorology program.

In 1987, he was awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor from Purdue University. The award is given to the top male and female student athlete at each Big Ten school. Gregory was an All Big Ten tennis player while a student at Purdue.

Gregory has earned the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation, granted to broadcast meteorologists who meet established criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.

Among radio and television meteorologists, the CBM designation is sought as a mark of distinction and recognition. He also has the National Weather Association’s Seal of Approval.

Gregory lives in Avon with his wife Susan and children Matt and Annie.
