Controversial 'Bob And Tom' Ad To Be Taken Down

Some Idaho Residents Outraged By Radio Show Billboard

A Boise radio station decided Wednesday to take down a billboard advertisement promoting the Indianapolis-based "Bob and Tom" radio show after people complained it was too racy, a representative said.

The billboard showed likenesses of the show's hosts, Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold, strategically placed on a tight T-shirt covering a woman's chest.

"'The Bob and Tom Show' did not create this billboard ad but support their Boise affiliate in their decision to discontinue using it," the show said in an e-mailed statement Wednesday afternoon.

Some parents said they were upset that their children were seeing the ad.

"My kids both saw it and my daughter is 7 and she said, 'Mom, that's gross, that's immodest,'" Kayla Mooso said. "I think that's against my parental rights because I can't turn it off like I can when I choose not to buy a magazine or I choose not to go to the back of the video store."

Before the decision to discontinue the ad was made, Scott Souhrada, the program director of the Boise station that carries the show, said he thought the billboard spoke to the audience he is trying to reach.

"The audience for 'The Bob and Tom Show' is predominately men 25-54 and we thought that would appeal to them and attract their attention," Souhrada said.

The radio show originates at WFBQ in Indianapolis.
