Police Search For Dismembered Woman's Remains

Investigators: Man Killed Girlfriend, Disposed Of Body Parts

Police said they're tracking leads that might help them find the remains of a woman who they believe was killed and dismembered by her estranged boyfriend.

Authorities said Joshua Bean, 23, admitted stabbing, burning and dismembering Heather Norris, 20, who was reported missing late last month, 6News' Jack Rinehart reported.

Bean was arrested Saturday after someone told police that Bean said he had killed Norris, authorities said.

According to police, Bean told investigators he killed Norris at his Indianapolis home on April 13 and cut the corpse with a chainsaw. He said he placed her remains in as many as 10 trash bags and put the remains in trash bins on the city's south side, police said.

"It was a full, detailed confession, including every step that he took to not only dispose of the body, but also covering up the crime scene," Indianapolis police Detective Todd Lappin said.

Police said they believe Bean transported the bags in a rented black pickup truck.

Although police said they believe Norris died on April 13, someone appeared to have posted a message on her MySpace page on April 17.

"No one believes me or understands me," the posting said. "I can't take this drama anymore. I need to get out of this state."

Information on who police believe made the April 17 posting wasn't available.

Police said several people have been telling them that Bean and Norris had a tumultuous and sometimes violent relationship.

Evan Webber, a friend of both the suspect and victim, told 6News that Bean had problems and control issues with women, including Norris.

"I asked him even straight to his face, 'Did you kill her?' (He said) 'No,'" Webber said.

Bean was to have gone on trial next week in a case in which he was accused of giving Norris a concussion in November 2006.

Police said anyone with information that might lead to the recovery of Norris' remains can call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
