One boy died and another was injured after being shot late Monday afternoon, Indianapolis police said.

Police said the boys were found shot at an abandoned house in the 2500 block of North Gale Street on the city's northeast side. Authorities said they were called there at about 5 p.m.

One boy died, and the other was being treated at Methodist Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition Monday evening, 6News' Renee Jameson reported.

No names were released. Police didn't say how old the victims were, except to say that they were juveniles.

Police said they were trying to determine whether someone had tried to abduct the boys.

"It appears they were both victims of a separate shooting here," said Indianapolis Metro police Lt. Jeff Duhamell. "The suspects left the area. They are looking at … two to four suspects."

Police have not released a description of the people they are looking for.
