Authorities are asking a judge to increase the bond of a man whom his attorney said has been investigated in the case of a missing Indiana University student.

Uriah Clouse, 26, is in jail on charges unrelated to the case of Jill Behrman (pictured, left), who disappeared while riding a bicycle May 31, 2000.

On Wednesday, detectives investigating the Behrman case looked on as the Brown County prosecutor asked a Brown Circuit Court judge to increase Clouse's bond from $3,500 to $250,000.

Clouse, who is not charged in the Behrman case, is eligible for release on bail Saturday. His sentence for invasion of privacy will expire that day, but he will need to post bond to leave jail because he faces misdemeanor charges on accusations that he fought in the Brown County Jail.

In a motion to increase bond filed last week, Clouse is accused of "making threats to kill persons who have been interviewed by the FBI related to an ongoing Bloomington murder investigation."

The document also said Clouse (pictured, right) has reportedly expressed an intent to leave Indiana to join his mother in South Carolina upon release.

The judge said she would make her decision on the bond by Friday.

Clouse's defense attorney told RTV6's Sarah Fraidin that detectives have been investigating Clouse in relation to the Behrman case for more than a year.

Wednesday's court developments come days after detectives said they identified three possible suspects -- not publicly identified -- in Behrman's disappearance, Fraidin reported.

Investigators have said they have what they call "good information" that supports the theory that Behrman was off her bicycle taking a drink of water when a speeding car accidentally hit her.

What may have happened next, according to investigators, is unclear. One theory is that Behrman died, the people in the car panicked and her body was eventually dumped. She also could have been severely injured and died as she was being taken to a hospital, or she could have been left to die in a remote area, according to investigators.
