INDIANAPOLIS -- A man who was arrested in a drug bust over the weekend worked as a case manager at an organization that helps veterans overcome their addictions.Police said Keith Barkdull, 29, of Anderson, (pictured) was arrested on Indianapolis' north side on Sunday, after they found him trying to sell 90 pounds of marijuana, 6News' Ericka Flye reported.Investigators said they think the pot came from Mexico and was to be sold in Anderson and Marion County.Barkdull was employed at Stepping Stones, where veterans get set on the path to a better life and get help to get off drugs."Alcohol, drugs, come from dysfunctional families, incarcerations -- it's a place for them to come and get their lives straight," said Ken Ford, Stepping Stones' chaplain. As a case manager, Barkdull worked closely with many people in need."(Barkdull) was in the process of off-loading marijuana from a vehicle," said Indiana State Police Trooper Todd Wix. "It's definitely a bit more than personal use."Ford said Barkdull was overcoming past involvement with drugs and was trying to use his experience to help others at the center, where his father is founder and director."I'm not here to judge whether he's guilty or innocent. That's not what we're concerned about," Ford said. "We're concerned about him on a personal level, because we all love him."Ford said he hopes Barkdull's arrest doesn't overshadow the center's success stories, like that of Thomas Broaden, who said he and Barkdull shared struggles with addictions but had a common goal to get clean."He was trying to get himself together at that time, and he was doing pretty good," Broaden said. "There's one thing I learned about this alcohol and drug thing -- everybody's human and people make mistakes."The confiscated marijuana is worth as much as $2,000 a pound on the street.
