Police: Teen Caused Injuries To Infant Daughter

LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The father of twin girls faces neglect and battery charges after one of them was hospitalized and later placed on life support.Police said Gerald Schofield, 19, was caring for the infant girls on Sept. 21 when he claimed Emma wouldn't wake up.Emma was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis with head trauma.Court papers showed that Schofield admitted yanking and pulling the child.During their investigation, police found that Emma's sister, Olivia, had some broken ribs.Emma was placed on a ventilator.Schofield was being held Tuesday in the Tippecanoe County Jail.
