INDIANAPOLIS -- City-County Council members voted Monday night to move ahead with an investigation of Council President Monroe Gray. The move came after Marion County Republicans renewed a call to reopen an ethics investigation. On Monday, Republican chairman Tom John called for majority Democrats to reverse themselves and vote for an investigation into Gray's business activities and his second job with the fire department.
During the last council meeting, Gray cast the deciding vote to block an investigation.Earlier this month, Republican leaders called for Gray to step down, alleging a conflict of interest.Gray draws salaries from the both the council and the fire department, without clear distinctions about which job he's doing at specific times.Gray faces eighth district challenger Kurt Webber in the Nov. 6 election.
