Gun Fires, Injures Gun Shop Worker

Police: Employees Working On Gun Didn't Know Bullet Was Inside

POSTED: 5:39 pm EST December 29, 2007

A gun store employee was injured Saturday when a firearm accidentally discharged at the shop.

Indianapolis Metro police said two employees at Don's Guns, on Lafayette Road, were working on an AK-47 rifle, but didn't know that a bullet was still inside.

The gun fired and the bullet hit the floor. Some fragments from that bullet struck an employee.

The employee was taken to a hospital in good condition, officials said.

Police said a customer had brought the gun into the store and that the employees didn't empty it before they began working on it.
