Police Say Friend Was Playing With Gun

INDIANAPOLIS -- A 15-year-old boy was sent to a hospital after being shot in the face by a friend who was playing with a gun in an east-side Indianapolis home Thursday afternoon, police said.The wounded boy, a Warren Central High School student whose name wasn't released, was shot as his 14-year-old friend played with the gun in a basement bedroom at 2736 Morningstar Drive at about 4:30 p.m., police said.The 15-year-old, who was a visitor to the home, was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital. Police described his condition as being stable.Police said the shooting appeared to have been an accident. A third boy was in the bedroom and a girl was elsewhere in the house when the shooting happened; no adults were there at the time, police said.Authorities said they didn't know who owned the gun. As of 7:45 p.m., detectives hadn't determined whether they would seek criminal charges, police said.
