Syverson's resignation takes effect immediately. He will get $25,000, broken into payments through June 30.Syverson was pulled over in late December for alleged drunken driving, but was not arrested at the time. Instead, a police officer drove him home. The traffic stop was caught on an in-car camera. The Hamilton County prosecutor filed charges based on that video.Syverson was suspended with pay earlier this year. About a year and a half was left on his contract.School officials said the situation was disheartening, but that they are now ready to move on."He has admitted that he has made a very bad mistake. He has a great deal of remorse about that, and that mistake called into question his ability to be effective in this district under those circumstances," said Hamilton Southeastern attorney David Day. "In another district and under other circumstances, I think everybody here has confidence that he can be an effective leader."Acting principal Jason Urban will remain in place through the end of the school year as the search for a new principal takes place.
