INDIANAPOLIS -- A 23-year-old Illinois man was killed in an indoor go-kart wreck on Indianapolis' north side Thursday night, police said. The man, Adam Robinson, 23, of Evergreen Park, Ill., was an AT&T worker. Police said he was racing with colleagues when his kart hit a wall at Fastimes Indoor Karting at about 7:30 p.m., Indianapolis police Sgt. Paul Thompson said.Thompson, citing a witness's description of the wreck, said Robinson apparently was coming out of a turn when the vehicle "went up on its side."
"When it went up on its side, his head went up against either a rail or a plexiglass wall," causing severe trauma to his head or neck, Thompson said.Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene, Thompson said. He was wearing a helmet and appeared to have been wearing seat restraints, police said.Police said they saw no evidence of wrongdoing.Robinson was with a group of AT&T workers who were in Indianapolis for training, police said.Fastimes Indoor Karting is located at 3455 Harper Road, near the intersection of 96th Street and Keystone Avenue. In a statement released Friday morning, AT&T said the company was saddened by Robinson's death and that "our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.""We are cooperating with local authorities during their investigation," AT&T said in the statement.
