An Indianapolis man accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl also infected the child with a sexually transmitted disease, authorities allege.

Marion County prosecutors filed four counts of felony child molesting against Jose Luis Oviedo, 30, after the girl described touching and sexual activity to investigators, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Cultures taken from the girl at an Indianapolis hospital tested positive for the herpes virus, the affidavit says. A witness in the case also told police Oviedo has herpes, the document states.

The girl told an interviewer that Oviedo, who faces an arrest warrant with a $200,000 bond, had threatened to kill her mother if she told anyone, the affidavit says.

The alleged sexual contact between Oviedo and the girl occurred in late January. The child's grandmother later found lesions on the girl's body and became suspicious, the affidavit says.

An arrest warrant was issued for Oviedo on Thursday, but authorities have not found him.

He is Hispanic, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 250 pounds.

Police said Oviedo drives a white, '90s-model minivan with a cracked windshield.

Oviedo has been frequently seen in the 2000 block of East Michigan Street, 4100 block of East Hoyt Avenue and 600 block of North Hamilton Street, according to IMPD.

Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
