INDIANAPOLIS -- The ex-husband of a missing Indianapolis woman will stay behind bars -- at least for now.
Steve Halcomb chose not to attend Tuesday's parole hearing and waived his rights, a decision that authorities said would keep him in prison for 13 more months.
Halcomb was jailed for violating his parole on a drug conviction in 2000.
The family of Karen Jo Smith (pictured, left) believes that Halcomb had something to do with Smith's disappearance in December 2000, but Halcomb denies it.
Smith's family has fought his attempts to win parole and hopes that he will confess.
Smith's father, Ed Bishop, said that there's no statute of limitations on murder and if Halcomb killed Smith, he won't get away it.
