INDIANAPOLIS -- A man wanted on a murder charge in Tennessee was arrested after police saw him leave the Indianapolis home of an Indiana Pacers player Wednesday evening, police said.Gary Bohanon (pictured) -- who last year was arrested on a drug charge after a traffic stop involving Pacers forward Shawne Williams -- was arrested Wednesday at about 6 p.m. after being stopped in Williams' Dodge truck, Indianapolis police said.Police said they saw Bohanon leave Williams' home and enter the truck before they stopped it.
They said they were watching Williams' home in the 4700 block of River Ridge Drive because U.S. marshals in Memphis, Tenn., told them that Bohanon was suspected of murder and that he might be on or near Williams' property.Details about the homicide allegations against Bohanon, 20, weren't immediately available, but it occurred in October 2007, authorities said. He was being held Thursday at the arrestee processing center, awaiting extradition to Tennessee.Williams left Wednesday night's Pacers game against the Chicago Bulls at halftime. Pacers spokesman David Benner said authorities told the team that Bohanon was an acquaintance of Williams' cousin and that Williams had no knowledge of the warrant charging Bohanon with murder."The authorities told us he wasn't staying at Shawne's house," Benner said. The Pacers are not expected to discipline Williams and he is expected to be at practice on Thursday, 6News' Derrik Thomas reported. On Sept. 11, Bohanon, Williams and a third man were arrested after a traffic stop in Indianapolis. Police said Williams, the driver, did not have a driver's license, and that his vehicle had an expired Tennessee license plate.Bohanon -- a passenger who then was identified by police by his alias, Roosevelt Rollins -- was charged with marijuana possession, and another passenger was charged with carrying a handgun without a license.Williams pleaded guilty to driving without receiving a license. He was ordered to serve 40 hours of community service and pay about $400 in fines and court costs. The Pacers suspended Williams for three games because of the case, starting with the Oct. 31 regular-season opener against Washington.Wednesday's arrest was the second police case connected to a Pacer's property in a week. On Sunday, police said a woman told them that someone had raped her during a party at the home of Pacers player Marquis Daniels. Police said Daniels is not a suspect.
