Dad Faces Attempted Murder Charge
Police: Indianapolis Father Severely Injured Infant

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis father is charged with trying to kill his 7-week-old son.Todd Spears, 19, of Indianapolis, was charged Thursday with attempted murder, aggravated battery and neglect. He was expected to be in court on Friday.According to police, Spears told them he squeezed Jaden Spears because he wouldn't sleep or stop crying.
Jaden's mother, Simone Hamilton, is charged with neglect and battery.The infant had fractured ribs, broken bones in both feet and legs, a broken arm and torn upper lip.Police also said the boy had injuries consistent with having been violently shaken.Authorities were told of the injuries when Hamilton took Jaden to a doctor's office to report a large bruise on his leg wasn't healing.
