Sen. Barack Obama got a gushing reaction from hundreds of supporters who gathered for a Saturday rally at Plainfield High School in the first of what is expected to be several campaign appearances by him and Sen. Hillary Clinton, the remaining Democratic candidates for the presidency, in Indiana before the state's May 6 primary.

As expected, the crowd was quite receptive to Obama's "change" mantra.

"I'm so excited. You would think this was a rock concert," said Joy Day.

Some people began lining up outside the high school eight hours before Obama's appearance, and they were rewarded with front-row seats for the appearance, 6News' Cheryl Jackson reported.

Supporters said they were more than satisfied with Obama's message.

"It's the same energy that I get when I watch him on television," said Darla Williams. "It's the same energy that I get today."

"He exceeded my expectations," said Cordelia Lewis-Burkes, vice-chair of the Indiana Democratic Party. "We met earlier with the senator, and he expressed ideas that he had. More importantly, he asked us what we thought he needed to do."
