Search Continues For Missing Kids, Temporary Guardians

Children Missing For Several Days

UPDATED: 5:28 pm EDT April 6, 2008

A search continues for three missing children last seen with their temporary guardians several days ago.

The children, ages 7, 3 and 16 months, were in the custody of Javier Hernandez and Laura Vivas.

Police said Hernandez and Vivas failed to appear in court for a hearing earlier this week. They were believed to have fled with the children.

Investigators thought the children's biological father was also traveling with the couple, but he was found in Johnson County.

Johnson County sheriff's Detective Bill Pfifer said he doesn't think the children are in immediate danger, but that authorities want them brought home to their mother.

"Whatever the public can do in assisting us to find these three children -- we don't want them to be in harm's way," Pfifer said.

Authorities are searching several possible destinations, including Mexico.
