Vandals Paint Wrestling Moniker On Churches

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Police say they're trying to determine who painted the name of a professional wrestling duo on the exterior of two Anderson churches.

"DX" -- shorthand for the wrestling duo D-Generation X -- and the group's slogan were recently painted on the siding of Greenbriar Community Church and the Landmark Baptist Church.

"I would really like to look (whoever is responsible) in the eye and ask them why they did what they did," said Greenbriar's pastor, Brad Brizendine.

Police and Brizendine said they believe teens were responsible, though no suspects have been named.

Greenbriar also was the target of vandalism and thievery earlier this year. Brizendine said someone broke into the church's sanctuary, smashed a glass jar containing donations and stole the money about two months ago.

Someone also smashed a basketball goal, damaged some doors and dented an air conditioning unit, Brizendine said.

Though he is disappointed by the vandalism, Brizendine said he hopes to reach out to whoever did it.

"We welcome them. Of course, we would want them to see what they did was wrong. I think in their heart they probably do," he said.
