Teens Thrilled To Help Indy's Super Bowl Bid

Students Fly Out To Hand Deliver Bid To NFL Owners

Eighth-grade students from all over central Indiana hopped aboard planes Friday morning to personally deliver Indianapolis' 2012 Super Bowl to NFL team owners.

Most of the children involved in the effort are 14 years old, yet they're eagerly completing a task that would be daunting to most adults, 6News' Julie Pursley reported.

Thirty-two teens are involved in the effort.

"I'm just so glad I was chose for this," said Kavelle Brooks, a student at South Side Middle School in Anderson. "It's incredible."

The teens picked up the bids Friday morning -- a binder filled with hundreds of pages of information that goes into great detail to explain why Indianapolis and Lucas Oil Stadium should be chosen as the site for arguably the biggest game in the world.

The bid committee asked school districts to pick outstanding eighth-grade students for the honor because they will be high school seniors in 2012.

"These kids need no scripting. They melt your heart, and I think they're the best possible sales people we could have," said Mark Miles of the Super Bowl bid committee.

"I thought really hard about what I'm going to say," said Darian White (pictured), a student at Chapel Hill in Washington Township. "I'm going to tell them ... it's our year."

The bid committee met with their young ambassadors to go over the game plan and give them some talking points.

After plenty of good luck wishes, the teens were sent on their way with bids in hand.

Northwest Airlines picked up the cost of the plane tickets. For most of the students, it will be a one-day trip.

NFL owners will consider Indianapolis' bid, along with those from Phoenix and Houston, at meetings on May 19 and 20.
