INDIANAPOLIS -- A settlement reached Wednesday means taxpayers have recovered another chunk of money from the botched downtown Indianapolis library expansion project. Two inspection firms, Patriot Engineering and The Rosk Group, have agreed to pay the library almost $1.3 million. The two companies, which did not admit to any wrongdoing in the settlement, were inspectors on the flawed concrete installation in the underground garage that had to be redone.
The library has now recovered about $25 million from contractors and construction managers. They are still seeking $25 million from the project's engineering firm. The library opened to rave reviews in December 2007.
