INDIANAPOLIS -- Deputy Attorney General Greg Zoeller won the Republican Party’s nomination for attorney general Monday at the party’s state convention.Zoeller defeated Jon Costas, the current mayor of Valparaiso, by a margin of 354 votes, 6News Capitol Watchdog Norman Cox reported.Costas lost despite the endorsement of Gov. Mitch Daniels.
6News political contributor Abdul-Hakim Shabazz called the vote "an embarrassment for the governor."

Steve Carter, who is serving his second term as attorney general, announced in March he would not seek a third term in office.Democrats are expected to nominate attorney Linda Pence as their candidate for attorney general at the party’s convention later this month.
