INDIANAPOLIS -- Emotions ran high at the tornado ravaged Falcon Point apartments Wednesday as some residents were told they won't be allowed to retrieve their belongings.Precious trinkets lie within the rubble of the apartment complex. Ten apartment buildings have been condemned, and residents who lived in those apartments must leave what they had inside behind, 6News' Ericka Flye reported.Verna Kyles is one of many outraged residents who showed up at the complex expecting to haul away what's left of her belongings to find out she won't be able to get anything.
"I'm taking a loss. I can't go back in there because it's unsafe," Kyles said. "So, they're just going to level all my stuff down when they level my place.""Everything in there is irreplaceable," said resident Sherry Cushingberry. "We ain't got no clothes. I don't have anything."Dozens of other residents whose apartments were deemed safe to enter went in with U-Hauls and hardhats and came away grateful because they were able to get loads of stuff. Many residents went into the apartment complex on Monday, when they were allowed 30 minutes to get necessities. They were told they would be able to come back at a later date for the rest.Emergency officials escorted residents into the complex to ensure their safety. Emergency management pulled out of the complex on Wednesday, handing control back to the property owner, Flye reported. Since the apartment are condemned, the manager of the complex said she isn't allowed to let anyone back in.Falcon Point's property owners are from out of state. They have yet to disclose what they plan to do with the complex.
