ATF Joins Warehouse Fire Investigation

Police Seek Car Seen Near Warehouse Before Fire

POSTED: 6:22 am EDT June 6, 2008

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has joined the investigation into the cause of a warehouse fire in Anderson.

Meanwhile, police are searching for a maroon four-door sedan with tinted windows that was seen near the warehouse shortly before the fire erupted Monday night.

ATF Special Agent in Charge Ken Chisholm said they will assist local authorities in investigating the fire that destroyed the warehouse and prompted the evacuations of about 20 nearby homes, some of which were damaged.

Hazardous materials teams were called to the fire, but no injuries were reported.

Fire officials estimate damage from the fire at $5 million to the 15-acre complex on the east side of the city about 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
