ANDERSON, Ind. -- Police in Anderson arrested a 13-year-old boy late Saturday night on charges he set a massive fire that destroyed a warehouse and several businesses.Authorities said a tip from the public led them to the teenager, who they said admitted starting the Monday fire at the former National Tile complex.According to a police department statement, the teen, whose name was not released, told investigators he broke into the facility to steal copper and set fires inside the dark building to provide light.
He also took them to the complex Saturday to show them where he had set the fires in the warehouse. The fire on the 15-acre complex destroyed the Phillip's Warehouse and several businesses inside, and forced the evacuation of approximately 30 homes. The teen was charged with arson, burglary, and attempted theft.Police said they are confident he is responsible for the fire, but would not rule out the possibility of more arrests.
