Police: Man Crashed Into Trooper's Car During Chase

Police Say Man Had Meth-Making Materials

POSTED: 9:52 am EDT July 1, 2008

State troopers arrested a West Terre Haute man who they said crashed into a police car with an all-terrain vehicle Monday.

Troopers said they were searching for a suspect wanted on a warrant when John David Jarvis, 22, sped away from the home on a green ATV Monday night.

Troopers said they gave chase and Jarvis turned around and crashed into the patrol car.

Police said Jarvis was wearing a bulletproof vest and was carrying a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol.

Police said they found equipment used to manufacture methamphetamine strapped to the back of the ATV and that the ATV had been stolen.

Jarvis was taken to the Vigo County Jail after he was treated at Terre Haute Union Hospital. Jail officials did not have an attorney listed for Jarvis.
