A woman backed over the gas pump, knocking it off its base and sparked a raging, fuel-driven fire, said Indianapolis fire Capt. Gregg Harris."I heard a big boom, and when I turned around, the car was already engulfed in flames," said Jordan David, who witnessed the explosion.Michael Lee, who was at another pump filling his car, pulled two women from the Buick. Both suffered minor injuries."I had to do something or she would have been burned up," Lee said.Anthony Furman, who was working the register inside the store, also helped rescue people from flames."I drug a lady, and another guy … he pulled people out of this car," Furman said.A manager inside the station hit the emergency shutoff to cut power to the pump, effectively killing the flames, Harris said."Once that was done, it stopped all the flowing of the fuel," Harris said.A woman who was driving a gold Cadillac suffered a possible heart attack after running from her burning car.Three cars were heavily damaged -- two of them burned to the shell. The damage to the gas station was estimated at $125,000, but it reopened just two hours after the incident.Police are trying to determine why the driver hit the pump.
