Officials: Tours Free, Tickets Required

Colts fans who want a sneak peek inside the new Lucas Oil Stadium better get ready to wait in line, officials said Friday.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place Aug. 16 at 9 a.m., stadium officials said.

After that, a limited number of fans will have the chance to tour the new facility, 6News' Norman Cox reported.

The tours -- slated for 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. -- are free, but tickets are required. Those tickets will be up for grabs Monday, officials said.

Fans can get up to eight per person by either waiting in line at the Conseco Fieldhouse box office, or by logging on to Ticketmaster's Web site.

Stadium officials said the tours will be self-guided, but that fans will be kept away from restricted places, like the office where Colts coach Tony Dungy keeps his game plans.

"They'll be self-guided, but there will be people inside, you know, to answer any questions and make sure that they are headed in the right direction," said Stadium Authority spokesperson Lou Gerig.

Fans who get tickets must select their tour time in advance.

Construction crews who helped build the stadium will get a private tour of the facility.
