NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- A Hamilton County animal shelter is running out of room, and quickly, officials said Friday. The county Humane Society shelter has 350 dogs and cats filling every cage at the facility, 6News' Jennifer Carmack reported. So officials are turning to a temporary solution: offering up pets to foster homes."We actually have 160 animals in foster homes right now, and the majority of them are kittens," shelter spokeswoman Rebecca Stevens. While a permanent home is the ideal solution for the animals, officials said, being in a home is better than being at the shelter."The reality is this is a very high-stress situation for them to be in, so they're going to heal much better, faster in a home than they ever would (in the shelter)," Stevens said. The shelter is currently offering a discount to adopt a cat or a kitten. For more information on adopting or fostering, call 317-773-4974 or visit the shelter's Web site.
