Scam Preys On Sympathy For Wounded Officer

Police Seek Door-To-Door Conman

A fundraising scam is preying on those who have sympathy for a wounded Indianapolis Metro police officer.

Police said someone has been knocking on doors and claiming to be from the police department, soliciting money to help with the medical bills of Officer Jason Fishburn.

Fishburn was shot twice on July 10 as he pursued a man now charged in three killings.

IMPD said they don't have anyone going door-to-door asking for help for Fishburn and asked anyone with information to contact them.

Fishburn continues to recover at Wishard Memorial Hospital.
