CARMEL, Ind. -- An Indiana Pacers forward involved in two brushes with the law since September 2007 was involved in a third incident Friday.Carmel police pulled over Shawne Williams on 96th Street on seat belt and window tinting violations.Williams was not cited, but his passenger, Darrell Smith 21, was arrested on a marijuana possession charge.
Smith, who is from Tennessee, was also cited on a seat belt violation. In 2007, Williams was found guilty of driving without a license. His passenger, an associate from Tennessee, was found guilty of marijuana possession. In February, Gary Bohanon was arrested while leaving Williams' home. He was being sought on a murder charge in Tennessee.Pacers President Larry Bird released a statement on Saturday that sounded ominous for Williams' future with the team."We are extremely upset and hugely disappointed he once again has put himself in a position that jeopardizes Shawne's future as a member of the Indiana Pacers," Bird said. "I plan to meet with Shawne as soon as possible to discuss further."
