A Noblesville mail carrier is accused of stealing from her route and using a government-issued gas card to fill up her personal vehicles, officials at the U.S. attorney's office said.

Tina Beaver, 44, of Noblesville, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Indianapolis on charges of theft of mail and misappropriation of funds, following an investigation by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

According to the indictment, Beaver stole more than 100 pieces of mail from her Noblesville route in October of 2007.

She's also accused of using her government-issued fuel card to buy more than $700 in gas for her personal vehicles since September of last year.

Beaver faces a maximum possible prison sentence of five years and a maximum possible fine of $250,000, officials at the U.S. attorney's office said.

Beaver's initial hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5.
