INDIANAPOLIS -- Several guns were taken after at least three burglars used a stolen car to break into a west-side gun store early Friday, police said. The break-in happened just after 5 a.m. at the Don's Guns store near 38th Street and Lafayette Road.Store surveillance video shows three likely teenage boys backing a car -- stolen from a nearby dealership an hour earlier -- into the front of the store and then climbing out through the windows.
Surveillance video shows the intruders inside for only 53 seconds. The burglars are seen throwing what looks like to be dozens of guns into backpacks before fleeing the store.Don's Guns owner Don Davis told 6News' Derrik Thomas the store has upwards of 6,000 guns and that it could take several days to do a complete inventory. He did confirm a Mac12 -- which sells fro $599 -- was taken in the burglary. But Davis said he's confident the burglars will be caught."This is probably the worst place in America that you can come into," he said. "When you look around it says you are being videotaped for your protection. They are on television."After the burglars left the store, they dumped the car used in the break-in and drove off in a white truck parked behind a nearby tire store.Another teen is also thought to have been involved.Police are asking anyone with information about the burglary to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
