Police Make Arrest In Home Invasion, Rape

LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A Lafayette man is under arrest on charges he broke into a woman's home and raped her early Friday morning, police said.

Officers were called to a home just before 5 a.m. Friday after a woman said a man had broken into the residence and assaulted her.

Steven Chavez, 24, of Lafayette, was arrested shortly after, police said.

He was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail and preliminarily charged with rape, confinement and battery.

Chavez was held on $25,000 bond.
