A police chase and the search of an east-side home Friday night led investigators to evidence in the break-in at an Indianapolis gun store, police said.

Don’s Guns -- near 38th Street and Lafayette Road -- was burglarized early Friday by three juveniles who were seen on surveillance video backing a stolen car into the store. Another person, who was not seen on camera, was also likely involved in moving the stolen guns from the car to a white truck parked nearby, police said.

Just after 9 p.m. Friday, officers tried to pull over a similar vehicle near 10th Street and German Church Road.

When the driver sped off, a chase ensued, during which two IMPD officers suffered minor injuries.

The pursuit ended in Cumberland near Colonywood and Summerwood drives when police said the young driver crashed into a fence. He took off on foot but was caught shortly after.

The driver -- who police said was alone in the car -- was taken into custody. Officers also recovered a firearm from the vehicle, Sgt. Paul Thompson said.

A police pursuit involving a vehicle police suspect was used in a gun store burglary came to an end on the east side Friday night.

A short time later, police executed a search warrant at 835 Belhaven Drive, about five blocks from where the pursuit began, Thompson said.

Three people were detained from that residence. Officers also found items inside the home related to the gun store burglary, police said.

Thompson said the investigation was still active and that detectives were looking for others connected to the crime. No names were being released.
