INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis police Sunday had arrested a 20-year-old man and three teens in connection with the burglary of a west-side gun store.A 13-year-old was behind the wheel of a stolen car that he, his twin brother and their 15-year-old friend rammed into the side of Don’s Guns near 38th Street and Lafayette Road just after 5 a.m. Friday, police said. The three teens were each preliminarily charged with two counts of burglary and theft, vehicle theft and illegal possession of a firearm.
Nicholas Martin, 20, turned himself in to police early Sunday, Sgt. Paul Thompson said. He was charged with burglary and theft.Police had been looking for another man as a possible person of interest. Thompson said that individual came forward Sunday, was questioned by police and was released without being charged. The three teens -- who have not been identified -- were arrested Friday night after a police chase and the search of a home on the city’s east side, police said.Officers tried to pull over one of the twin brothers near 10th Street and German Church Road just after 9 p.m., but police said the teen drove off, eventually crashing into a fence near Colonywood and Summerwood drives in Cumberland. Two IMPD officers suffered minor injuries during the chase. The teen -- who police said was alone in the vehicle -- was taken into custody. Officers also recovered a firearm from the vehicle, Sgt. Paul Thompson said. It was not known if that gun had been stolen during the burglary.A short time later, police executed a search warrant at 835 Belhaven Drive, about five blocks from where the pursuit began, Thompson said. The 15-year-old and the other twin brother were detained at that residence. Officers also found items inside the home related to the burglary, police said.Saturday night, police said several weapons taken in the burglary had been recovered.Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
