A Marion County Health Department worker found a woman's decomposed body Tuesday in a culvert on the northeast side.

The body was found near Banbury Drive and Dickson Road, just north of Arlington High School.

Investigators said they weren't immediately sure how long the body had been there and that they don't know how the victim died.

Police were not able to immediately identify the victim's race, but said she was of medium build and had several tattoos, including a 3-inch cross on her back. She also had a butterfly tattoo on her left shoulder and "Play Girl" tattooed on her upper-left chest area.

The victim also had a navel ring with a blue stone. She was wearing burgundy pants with a 2-inch wide belt and a shirt with fringes on the bottom.

Police asked anyone with information to contact Indianapolis Metro police Sgt. Mark Prater at 317-327-3481.
