INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman whose naked body was found Saturday near the railroad tracks on the city's south side had been killed, police said.

Two boys came across the body near Southern Avenue and East Street just after noon, said Indianapolis police Lt. Jeffrey Duhamell.

The woman -- identified as Irene Poindexter, 25 -- was mostly nude and she had visible signs of trauma to her upper torso, Duhamell said. It wasn't clear whether she was killed in that location or dumped there.

Anyone with information about her death is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
