Police Seek Suspect In Death Of Man Thrown From Car
Witnesses Saw Man Beating Hammer On Windshield

INDIANAPOLIS -- Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who may have been involved in the death of a man killed in an unusual case involving a car and a hammer.The man who died -- Robert McClurg, 49 -- was seen hanging onto the hood of a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero that was traveling as fast as 60 mph through a neighborhood on the city’s north side on the evening of Aug. 25, police said.McClurg was seen by witnesses to be hitting the windshield of the car with a hammer. At some point, McClurg was thrown from the car and was later pronounced.
Sunday, police released a picture of Stephen M. Adams, 47, who they said was wanted for questioning in McClurg’s death. Adam’s last-known address was 3829 N. Capitol Ave.Police did not say if Adams was thought to have been driving the car involved.Investigators had speculated that the car might have been stolen from McClurg or that he might have traded it for drugs.Anyone with information on Adams whereabouts is asked to call police, IMPD homicide at 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
