INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis police officer Jason Fishburn made his first public appearance Sunday at a charity bike ride in his honor, less than two months after he was shot in the line of duty.Hundreds of motorcycle riders took park in the 60-mile Ride For Fish fundraiser Sunday, 6News' Tanya Spencer reported.Fishburn, riding in a car driven by his wife, Tanya, watched as each bike passed. Riders then presented him with a certificate of valor.Organizers expected the ride and silent action to raise thousands of dollars for Fishburn's recovery."Everything is going to Jason. Every day is a better day for him. It seems to be that he's doing much, much better on a progressive level and there's going to be a lot of expenses, a lot of expenses over the next couple years," said organizer Steve Barnhart.Fishburn was shot in the head and in the chest July 10 while attempting to arrest a man wanted in a robbery and slaying. He spent several weeks at Wishard Hospital and is now recovering at an area rehabilitation center.
