INDIANAPOLIS -- An 18-year-old man told police he killed a man who was trespassing on his porch and then stuffed his body in a trash can.

Reeshemah Burns turned himself in to police Wednesday afternoon, said Indianapolis police Sgt. Paul Thompson.

The body of Steven Townsel, 45, was discovered Monday in a trash can that had been dumped behind a home at 3921 E. 11th St.

Burns told investigators that Townsel was trespassing on his porch, which sparked an argument between the two men, eventually leading to Townsel's death.

An autopsy Tuesday showed Townsel had been severely beaten.

Burns was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder.
