INDIANAPOLIS -- A car show downtown Sunday raised thousands of dollars for an Indianapolis police officer who nearly died from a gunshot wound to the head.Jason Fishburn and his family were at the fundraiser. Family members reiterated that they are extremely grateful for the support for Fishburn, both financially and spiritually, 6News' Tanya Spencer reported.Fishburn was shot twice in July as he tried to catch a man now charged in three slayings.More than $6,000 was raised at the car show. Each of nearly 100 cars at the show paid an entrance fee to be there. A silent auction and raffle for a new scooter also boosted the money raised."It's one thing to have the financial ability that he might need in the future, but how can you replace the spiritual building that it's helped my son with?" said Indianapolis police Sgt. Dennis Fishburn, Jason's father. "He gets so emotional when he sees people helping him to this degree."Jason Fishburn is scheduled to undergo a third and, possibly, final surgery on Friday. A prosthetic piece will be put in his head to replace part of the skull that was lost when he was shot.Fishburn will continue to receive therapy at an outpatient facility that specializes in brain trauma.Earlier this month, Fishburn received a standing ovation when he was introduced at an Indianapolis Colts game. He has also earned a Medal of Honor and Purple Heart
