Indiana Gas Prices Keep Dropping

Prices Tumble Well Below $3

POSTED: 11:32 am EDT October 10, 2008

A steady drop in gas prices has taken hold in central Indiana as concern over the economy continues to push oil prices down.

A gallon of regular unleaded gas is now going for $2.85 a gallon at several stations on Indianapolis' south side.

AAA said Friday that the national average is $3.35 a gallon, while Indiana's average price is down to $3.28. Indianapolis' average is still lower, at $3.13 a gallon.

AAA's survey of gas prices typically runs a couple of days behind real-time prices at the pump.

A year ago, a fill-up cost $2.71 a gallon in central Indiana.

Oil prices dropped to $83 a barrel Friday, marking a one-year low even as OPEC said it will meet in November, possibly to lower production.
