Two elderly men who were found dead in a southwest-side home on Monday were likely killed, police said.

A friend of the men made the discovery inside a home at 9160 Middlebury Way at 11:30 a.m., said Indianapolis police Patrolman Chris Wilburn.

Milton Lindgren, 70, and Eric Hendricks, 73, had not returned calls from friends and family.

Police would not say how the men were killed or how long their bodies had been inside the home, only that their deaths came by "violent means."

Friends told 6News' Ericka Flye that the crime scene inside the home was very bloody. Police officers were seen wearing masks.

Neighbors called Lindgren and Hendricks nice and friendly.

"I'm shocked because it's so close to home, you don't expect for it to happen close to you," said neighbor Tajuana Hall.

Police had not given any suspect information Monday night.
