Store Clerk Turns Tables On Alleged Robber

Attempted Robbery Turns Into Shootout

POSTED: 8:02 p.m. EST November 30, 2002

An attempted armed robbery turned into a shootout Saturday morning.

Police said an armed man demanded money at Lawrence Liquor Store just before 11:30 a.m.

The clerk reportedly threw the cash drawer at the clerk, hitting him twice.

Police said the clerk also fired a gun he kept behind the counter at the suspect as he left the store, but missed.

Brian Fergson was later arrested for the attempted robbery during a traffic stop.

The clerk was treated and released for injuries to his wrist and leg.
