KOKOMO, Ind. -- Results of an autopsy following the death of an 11-month-old Kokomo boy have prompted police to investigate the case as a homicide.Malaki Lindley was taken to a Kokomo hospital early Sunday morning after his mother's boyfriend, who was caring for the boy while she was at work, discovered him unconscious and unresponsive at the home in the 600 block of South Washington Street, police said. The boy was later taken by medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he died Sunday evening.
The autopsy showed Lindley's cause of death as blunt force trauma, said Kokomo police Lt. Don Whitehead.Lindley's aunt told 6News' Jennifer Carmack that she couldn't understand how anyone could hurt her nephew."This poor little baby; it's shocking," Whitney Lindley said. "We're still dealing with the fact that he's gone. He's gone forever."Malaki Lindley would have turned 1 year old on Friday. Officials said charges in the case could be filed later this week.
