Indianapolis, Louisville To Share FFA Hosting
City's Largest Convention To Move In 2013

INDIANAPOLIS -- The National FFA convention will return to Indianapolis, but the Circle City will begin rotating hosting duties with Louisville, Ky., officials announced Friday.The event will change cities on a three-year basis. Louisville will host the annual convention from 2013 through 2015 and Indianapolis will host from 2016 through 2018, 6News' Rick Hightower reported.After the convention returns to Louisville in 2019 through 2021, Indianapolis will be given the right of first refusal for 2022 through 2024.
Indianapolis will host the convention through 2012.FFA is Indianapolis' largest convention, bringing about $40 million to the city's economy each year."The positive impact of this event and these outstanding young people on our city is undeniable," said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, in a statement.The massive convention came to Indianapolis in 2006 after spending 72 years in Kansas City, Mo., and another six in Louisville.A nine-member board mulled bids from Indianapolis and Louisville before making the decision. The headquarters of FFA -- which once stood for Future Farmers of America -- are based in Indianapolis.About 54,000 students attend the convention annually.
