A Knox man was arrested on Wednesday accused of beating his 6-week-old son, leaving him with dozens of fractures.

The three-month-long investigation began after Landon Parrott was taken to Laporte Hospital and then Riley Hospital For Children by his mother, said state police Sgt. Tony Slocum.

An examination revealed that the then-6-week-old had 25 rib fractures in various stages of healing, a torn upper gum and a healing fracture to his left clavicle.

The boy's father -- Kyle Parrott, 22 -- was arrested on Wednesday when he appeared at the Starke County Courthouse for a hearing in a civil matter. He was preliminarily charged with three counts of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury and three counts of battery resulting in serious bodily injury.

Investigators said the abuse took place in July and August while the boy was in his father's care.

Landon Parrott -- now five months old -- is in the care of the Starke County Department of Children’s Services.

Kyle Parrott is being held at the Starke County Jail on a $1 million bond.
