Police: Repeat Voyeur Exposed Himself, Looked In Apartments

Man Has 2 Previous Voyeurism Convictions

A man with prior voyeurism convictions was arrested Thursday morning after exposing himself and looking inside apartments on Indianapolis' south side, police said.

Police were called to an apartment complex on Stone Crossing Drive just after 7 a.m. after a woman reported a man looking into her apartment, said Lt. Jeffrey Duhamell.

Officers said they found William Newhouse (pictured), 50, of New Whiteland, exposing himself nearby.

He had also cut the screen to an outside door in an attempt to gain access to the apartment, Duhamell said.

"We're not sure exactly what his intentions were, but certainly when our officers arrived … they found him in the act and he was completely exposed," said Indianapolis police Maj. Clifford Myers.

Police said Newhouse had been watching a 29-year-old woman through a window as she got ready for work Thursday morning. Newhouse was arrested on charges of burglary, stalking and voyeurism.

"They need to be incarcerated. Our safety is first, over their addiction to whatever that is," said a woman who lives nearby.

Newhouse was being held Thursday on $30,000 bond.
